DROP THE CHARGES AGAINST J.R. VALREY!
From the case of Mumia Abu Jamal to the Rodney King rebellions, and more recently the days of rage against the murder of Oscar Grant to the G20 protests in Pittsburgh – the state is up to the same old game. Police single out leaders and journalists (or folks who are both) for the most serious charges during protests, and then the courts tie folks up in political trials to try to silence them, disrupt their work, and intimidate others from speaking out.

(10-16) 16:14 PDT OAKLAND -- The trial of former BART police Officer Johannes Mehserle, accused of murdering an unarmed rider early New Year's Day, will be moved out of Alameda County, a Superior Court judge declared today.
Judge Morris Jacobson ruled that the defense had shown that Mehserle could not get a fair trial in Alameda County because of the extensive publicity surrounding the case, which has stirred up strong emotions and one protest that resulted in extensive damage in downtown Oakland.

Few if any in Indian Springs expected up to 100 Anti-War Activists to brave
the heat of the desert and the wrath of Pro-War forces, to descend last week
upon Creech AFB located on the eastern edge of their town.
Several activists though felt so strongly about halting the military’s use
of the drones, they did expect to risk arrest Monday as they attempted to
meet with the base commander to dialogue about their abhorrence to the
military’s – and that base’s in particular – use of unmanned aerial
vehiclesto hunt down, track, and kill human beings 7000 miles away:
against people in Pakistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

On the 8th Anniversary of the War on Afghanistan
U.S./NATO Out—Bring the Troops Home Now!
End Colonial Occupation in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Haiti...
Healthcare, Jobs, Housing, Education for All—Not War!
October 7, 2009 marks the 8th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. On that day, there will be anti-war actions in cities and towns throughout the country.
The war and occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq are both colonial-type wars. Bush used the “War on Terror” as a pretext for the escalation of imperialist intervention. Bush is gone but the brutal occupations continue.
